Text Statistics
A deeper look at your writing — sentence and paragraph structure, averages, readability, and the words you use most.
About this tool
Text Statistics goes beyond a basic word count, breaking down a piece of writing structurally: sentence and paragraph counts, average word and sentence length, the longest word used, and which words appear most often (common filler words like "the" and "and" are excluded so the list reflects actual content). It's useful for checking that an essay meets a paragraph requirement, spotting overly long sentences, or seeing which words you lean on too heavily.
Readability is estimated using the Flesch Reading Ease formula, which scores text from roughly 0 (very difficult, academic/legal writing) to 100 (very easy, simple children's books) based on sentence length and syllables per word — a practical guide for matching your writing to your audience, though it's a mathematical approximation and not a judgment of quality.
