About this tool

Leet speak (or "1337") replaces letters with visually similar numbers and symbols — a becomes 4, e becomes 3, s becomes 5, and so on. It started in early internet and BBS culture partly as a way to dodge simple text filters, and stuck around as internet slang and gamer/hacker in-jokes.

Intensity controls how many letters get swapped: Light only swaps the most iconic substitutions (a, e, i, o, s), Medium adds a few more common ones, and Heavy swaps nearly every letter that has a leet equivalent, including some double-letter and case-based substitutions. "Leet → Text" attempts to reverse a leet string back to normal letters using the same substitution map — it works well for straightforward leet text but can't perfectly undo every possible spelling.
