Image Compressor
Reduce an image's file size while keeping it looking sharp, and convert between JPEG, PNG, and WebP. All processing happens locally — your image is never uploaded.
About this tool
Image Compressor shrinks photo file sizes for faster page loads, smaller email attachments, and lighter cloud storage, using your browser's built-in Canvas API to re-encode the image at a lower quality — no upload to any server required. Drop in a JPEG, PNG, or WebP file, adjust the quality slider and optional maximum dimensions, and compare the original against the compressed result side by side before downloading.
Choosing a quality level: settings above roughly 70% usually look visually identical to the original while still cutting file size significantly; push lower and you'll start to see compression artifacts in exchange for a smaller file. JPEG and WebP compression is lossy (quality-based); PNG output uses lossless re-encoding, so the quality slider mainly affects JPEG/WebP output. You can also convert between formats — for example, converting a large PNG screenshot to WebP — in the same step as compressing it.
