About this tool

EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) data is metadata embedded directly in a photo by the camera or phone that took it — things like the make and model of the device, the date and time the photo was taken, camera settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focal length), and sometimes precise GPS coordinates of where it was shot. This tool reads that metadata straight out of your image file, entirely in your browser.

A privacy note: if a photo includes GPS coordinates, sharing the original file can reveal exactly where it was taken — worth checking before posting personal photos online. Many platforms (and messaging apps) automatically strip EXIF data on upload, which is why photos downloaded from social media often show little or nothing here, while an original file straight off a phone or camera usually shows the most detail.
